I’m Chelsea Owens and I’m 19, soon to be 20 in September and I was diagnosed with the full mutation of FX when I was 7 years old. I’m not severely affected by it. I attended a small catholic grade school and high school.

I was in a normal classroom setting in both grade school and high school. I loved high school! Everyone was so good to me and helped out all 4 years. In

high school, over the 4 years I had a GPA of 3.5 or higher and got one of the Academic All Honor Award’s for keeping that high of a GPA all 4 years of high school. I worked extremely hard in school especially my senior year when i did Cross Country and Track and the hard work paid off.

I’m currently a sophomore in college at a local small community college and planning on going to a 4 yr. college in the future and majoring in Graphic Design/Visual Communications. After my freshman year of college, I made the Deans List and I’m very proud of myself. I’m looking forward to seeing what my sophomore year has in store for me! Having Fragile X can be difficult at times but with hard work I’m proud of what I have accomplished with having Fragile X Syndrome. Some Fun things about me are, I love listening to music especially Brad Paisley, I like to watch movies and I have a lot of tv shows that I watch! I’m a fun person and likes to educate people on Fragile X Syndrome especially those who have a girl who have the full mutation. Oh yes, I spoke at my first conference in 2010 in Dearborn, Michigan on the female panel and loved it and can’t wait to do it again!
