Spencer Shelton is a 20-year-old second-year student at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell, NM, “the center of the alien universe,” as Spencer puts it. Spencer’s home is in Mesilla, NM, a 3-hour drive from Roswell.

Spencer has for a long time been obsessed with cars, in particular the Mini Cooper. For high school graduation in 2009 he got his dream car — a used “new style” Mini!

Choosing an area of study was a no-brainer for Spencer when he enrolled in the Special Services vocational program at ENMU. Auto mechanics was his choice. he is now completing his

He finished that program while living in the campus dorms. Then graduating to second-year status, Spencer moved into a campus apartment with three other young men. He wanted to study auto mechanics again, but faculty members and parents encouraged him to branch out. So he is now completing his studies in stocking and merchandising while working 1/2 days at O’Reilly Auto Parts, which enables Spencer to keep his finger in the automotive field.

During breaks in his school year Spencer washes cars for Las Cruces Automotive near his home. He drives to and from work in his Mini, but is not allowed to have his car at school.
