In 1998 and 2001 we had our two daughters. Jessica and Victoria. Jessica showed signs of developmental delays and speech problems, but I was always told she’ll be fine. Victoria was right on track developmentally, but she was showing signs of anxiety and OCD, again we were told she’s fine.
In 2005, I gave birth to our son, Alex. By 6 mos. I noticed he was delayed developmentally. He qualified for assistance at home thru the state. We grabbed the chance. In 2008 while visiting the ENT doctor for surgery to remove Alex’s adenoids and insert ear tubes, the doctor questioned me about FXS. I was clueless. I immediately called the doctor, made an appointment and had him tested. He would come back Full Mutation.
In 2011, after much denial, I finally came to the realization that I needed our girls and myself tested. We all came back Full Mutation. They are the best kids in the world and I wouldn’t change anything! They are my heroes!
