Nancy Carlson and the NFXF Heartland Chapter — Iowa and South Dakota hosted their 9th Annual Bike To X Out Fragile X on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa.

The annual event draws many repeat riders and plenty of new ones. More than 70 registrants met near GoodSons, a local bar with a large patio area perfect for gathering a large group of riders. The weather cooperated with an overcast sky and little wind that made for a gorgeous day on the trails.

The 15.5-mile ride began at 9:30 a.m. at GoodSons and headed east toward the city of Waukee, where riders — along with some friends and family — stopped for lunch outdoors at Mickey’s Irish Pub.

Heading back toward Des Moines, the next stop was the 515 Brewing Company in Clive, where the group once again filled up the available outdoor seating! The final leg brought them back to GoodSons where many hung out for a drink before heading home.

We have one more shout-out for the Exile Brewing Company in Des Moines, which was going to be an additional stop, but the trails leading there were flooded.

Central Iowa has more than 600 paved riding trails and Nancy is more than happy to help anyone who’d like to travel there for next year’s 10th annual ride scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2025. She can be contacted through their Facebook page.

Thank you again to the Annual Bike To X Out Fragile X riders and their sponsors:
