The start of the school year is just around the corner—hold on now, breathe deeply, it’s going to be OK!
One of the many things you may need to think about is if, how and when your child may be disciplined. This in turn raises the question of whether any seclusion and restraints are used in your school. In the continuing absence of a national law covering all schools in all states, it is helpful to know what your state’s laws say on the topic.
While the NFXF and our partners continue to advocate for a national set of laws in this matter, we’re providing you here with a downloadable resource from the Autism National Committee to quickly access the laws that exist today in your state. As always, it is best to stay alert, stay informed, keep your eyes and ears open, and don’t assume anything. Remember: You are your child’s No. 1 advocate!
