Jeffery Cohen, Director of Governmental Affairs and Advocacy for the National Fragile X Foundation was in Washington DC last Monday and attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). 10 years ago the NFXF was part of a coalition that helped pass the Children’s Health Act of 2000. That was the law that created the NCBDDD and once they opened up shop we worked closely with them to establish a national Fragile X public health program. Its this program that helps to fund the Our Fragile X World survey of families and the Fragile X Clinical and Research Consortium (FXCRC) of FX clinics around the country (among other great projects over the years).
This program is one of the things you can help us advocate for on Advocacy Day. Hope you can join us for the upcoming Fragile X Advocacy Day on March 6-7, 2012.
