If you have a son with Fragile X syndrome between 36 and 66 months of age, you and your child are invited to participate in a research study being conducted by Dr. Angela Thurman from the Laboratory on Language Development in Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the MIND Institute University of California, Davis.
Study Goals
The goal of this study is to learn more about the factors influencing language learning in boys with Fragile X syndrome. In the future, it is possible that this information will help us determine more effective intervention approaches targeting language development and help us clarify if the same treatment approaches can be effective in Fragile X syndrome.
Study Details
If you decide that you and your son are interested in being in this study, we will ask you to visit the MIND Institute two times with approximately 1 year between visits.
- During your visits, your son will participate in some activities that will help us learn more about his problem solving skills, language ability, nonverbal communication skills, attention, and other aspects of his development.
- We will also ask you to play with your son, fill out some questionnaires, and participate in an interview about your child’s developmental history and current abilities.
- Families will receive $50 and a $5 gift card for each visit. Travel-related expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with UC Davis policies.
