Josh is a 17 year old, happy and charming young man… one of the kindest and most compassionate teenagers I have ever known. He is severely affected with Fragile X syndrome and Autism and I am so proud and happy

very low functioning as a result. When Josh was younger, he struggled with aggressive behaviors, often targeting his big sister, Jennifer. She is not biologically affected by FXS, but to say she hasn’t been affected would be totally inaccurate. She loved her baby brother and wanted to hug him, to kiss him, to cuddle with him. But Josh with his sensory issues couldn’t handle it and communicated in the only way he knew how at the time… by hitting her. I am so proud and happy that they have learned ways to enjoy each other and there is no more aggression. In fact, he lights up like a light bulb whenever she is near him.

It makes for a proud mom!
