We are thrilled to announce the return of a Fragile X clinic to New Orleans, Louisiana. The clinic is located at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and is being run by Dr. Susan Fielkow who ran a previous Fragile X clinic at a different hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Fielkow is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and will see patients from birth to age 21. The clinic belongs to the NFXF’s Fragile X Clinical & Research Consortium (FXCRC) and, as a member, benefits from the communication with, and the expertise of, the 40+ U.S. and international clinics that belong to the FXCRC.

In addition to serving families in New Orleans, the clinic serves the greater Gulf South Region. As is the case for all FXCRC clinics, medical evaluation (including medication) is a core component of the clinic and families who visit will be able to carry home Fragile X-specific treatment recommendations to their primary care provider as well as their child’s educators and therapists. In addition, various other services, including psychology, genetics and social work, are provided directly by the clinic or through referral on an as-needed basis.
