Researchers at the Neurodevelopmental Language and Learning Lab are focused on the development of language, communication, and related skills in children. This study addresses how children learn words in stories and the skills that support learning,
About the Study
Who can participate?
Children with Fragile X syndrome ages 5 to 10 years old may be eligible to participate.
What will happen in the study?
If the individual qualifies and decides to be in this research study, they will complete the research study online via Zoom for 2 sessions on consecutive days (two days in a row). The following is a list of some of the study procedures that will happen during the study:
- Parents will complete questionnaires before or after the study sessions
- Children will interact with a researcher over Zoom to listen, look, and/or respond during child-friendly activities
What are the good things that can happen from this research?
There are no direct benefits to participating in this research study. Information collected in this study may be useful for understanding and supporting language development in the future.
What are the bad things that can happen from this research?
The most important risks to participating are loss of confidentiality and boredom or frustration. There may be other risks that we do not know about yet.
Will I or my child be paid to complete this study?
Participants receive $10 for each of two virtual visits.
