On September 28, 2019, Fragile X families, friends, neighbors, and supporters gathered for the 2nd Annual X Strides Heartland run/walk.
It was a beautiful morning on the Briarwood Golf Club course. Over 145 runners and walkers gathered at sunrise to participate. We had 11 Fragile X Families participate, 15 sponsors, and 14 people volunteer to help with registration and packet pick-up. Jeff Sexton, the organizer, had everything ready from a laptop for walk-up registrations to water out on the course to a kitchen open for breakfast. Nancy Carlson, the co-chair, did her best to introduce Fragile X families to one another. A photographer took photos of the various groups of participants under the big blue arch. It was a fantastic day! We exceeded our fundraising goal, raised awareness, met new Fragile X families, and visited with longtime friends.
