On May 7th, 2011 over 400 people celebrated the 5th Annual Fragile, Not Broken Walk for Knowledge. It poured rained as volunteers from the FX Resource Center of Missouri set up for the event but the weather cleared as people arrived we had blue skies and fluffy clouds! It was a patriotic sea of red, white and blue with our special walk t-shirts to honor all of the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2011. Families enjoyed balloon artists, face painters, a bounce House, pony Rides, the resource Area, raffle and great BBQ.
This year’s walk premiered the Fragile X “Test your Knowledge” crossword puzzle (answers could be found on the signs throughout the course) and also child-friendly signs featuring a book written by Ashlyn Southard entitled “My Brother Evan”.
Many, many thanks to the walk committee members Dawn Erker, Kim Eyermann, John and Cindy Love, Debbie Meis, Linda Kuhn, Mary Anne Schnettgoecke and Diane Southard and the many terrific volunteers who helped raise over $16,000!
