Zeke

Zeke was nominated by his mother, Kristina Yamaguchi

What makes Zeke Xtraordinary to you?

Zeke embodies a different kind of strength. ❤️ His journey reminds us that strength doesn’t always look like independence, reaching milestones on a typical timeline, or doing things the way the world expects. Sometimes, strength looks like growing at your own pace, finding joy in the little things, and showing up in a world that wasn’t always designed for you.

Zeke is expanding our understanding of what a meaningful, beautiful life looks like and reminding us that progress doesn’t have to look typical to be extraordinary. He doesn’t have to overcome his disability to be remarkable. He is extraordinary exactly as he is, and the world is better for having him in it.

Special Facts

  • 🚙 He has his very own adaptive ride! Zeke was selected for Colorado Mesa University’s Go Baby Go program, giving him the opportunity to explore his world in his very own red Jeep!
  • 💙 He’s redefining what progress looks like. Living with Fragile X syndrome means Zeke’s developmental journey looks different, but every new opportunity to explore, learn, and experience independence is worth celebrating.
  • 🌎 He’s making a difference just by being himself. Zeke is helping others understand that disability doesn’t diminish a person’s potential, joy, or value. His story reminds us that inclusion means creating opportunities for every child to participate in the world around them.

How has the NFXF helped you or your family?

NXFX has been such a meaningful source of support for our family, especially through Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. Being surrounded by other moms who understand the joys, fears, challenges, and uncertainties of raising a child with Fragile X was incredibly empowering.

For the first time, I felt like I wasn’t trying to explain our world to people who had never lived it. I was surrounded by women who just got it. Meeting other moms who were turning their experiences into advocacy reminded me that our voices matter, our children deserve to be seen and heard, and we can make a difference together.

Advocacy Day helped me find confidence in using my voice for Zeke and connected me with a community that reminds me our family isn’t walking this journey alone.
