Self-Advocate Advisor (Colorado)

Summer is a passionate self-advocate, dedicated mother of two boys, and a lifelong champion for the Fragile X community. Her oldest son has Fragile X syndrome, which has driven her deep involvement in advocacy efforts. Over the years, Summer has played a pivotal role in advancing awareness and support for Fragile X families. She has served on the board of Developmental FX and co-led the Fragile X Alliance of Texas, where she helped foster a sense of community and resource-sharing for affected families.

Summer assisted in organizing the 15th International Fragile X Conference in San Antonio contributing her expertise and vision to one of the largest global gatherings focused on Fragile X. Her family relocated to the Denver area, where Summer has served as the facilitator of the NFXF’s Siblings and Self-Advocate Network.

In addition to her leadership roles, Summer had the honor of co-presenting at the 16th International Fragile X Conference in Cincinnati alongside Dr. Nicole Tartaglia and Dr. Jennifer Epstein. Together, they shared insights with full-mutation mothers, offering valuable support and resources to this community.

Excited to be in Colorado, Summer looks forward to continuing her advocacy work while engaging with the local special needs community and making a meaningful impact for families affected by Fragile X.
