In our ongoing effort to advance scientific understanding and advancing treatment research in all Fragile X-associated conditions and disorders, we are sharing information on an available funding opportunity.
The PRMRP leadership are hosting information sessions to provide additional details about the funding opportunities and the application process. Review the flyer: FY26 funding mechanisms.
Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program
Since 2010, more than $21M has been awarded for research on Fragile X-associated conditions and disorders through the PRMRP, following its inclusion as an eligible topic area within CDMRP. For FY26, Fragile X, including all FMR1-associated conditions and disorders, remains an eligible topic area, supported through a $370M appropriation within the PRMRP portfolio.
The PRMRP is part of CDMRP within the Department of War and supports innovative, congressionally directed biomedical research addressing critical health needs.
The NFXF and Fragile X community have long engaged in advocacy efforts supporting sustained federal research investment. This includes nominating consumer reviewers to participate in PRMRP peer and programmatic review, ensuring lived experience informs funding decisions alongside scientific expertise. The NFXF has also contributed community perspectives to help identify research gaps and priority needs.
Upcoming Webinar
The PRMRP Program Manager will be hosting an informational Webinar. Additional details will be shared as they become available.

Partnering with the NFXF Throughout the Research Process
The NFXF can help! The PRMRP program appreciates partnerships between patient advocacy groups and researchers.
The NFXF Research Facilitation portfolio leverages our skills to create meaningful partnerships with all researchers, from initial concept through the dissemination of results. We support our research facilitation mission through the NFXF Research Readiness Program, our services menu, focused projects, and advocacy. We recommend that all researchers engage in the program early for support from concept through the conclusion of the research project.
