Lara Bailey

NFXF Board of Directors
Self-Advocate Advisor (North Carolina)

Lara has been active in the Fragile X community since she attended her first regional Fragile X conference in Asheville, NC in the summer of 2009. In 2010, she attended her first NFXF conference in Detroit, Michigan where she participated in the first ever panel of Females with Fragile X. She went on to attend and present at four other Fragile X conferences. Her family has also been active in the Fragile X community through research and fundraising. She looks forward to continuing to be active with the NFXF as we continue to try and understand how Fragile x affects each of us individually.

In her spare time, Lara enjoys traveling, reading mysteries, learning about other cultures, working out, and being an aunt to the three most amazing humans to grace the planet. In addition, she is also an avid scrapbooker and loves creating photographic memories of life’s adventures and the places she’s traveled.

“A fun thing about me is that I was in the marching band in high school where I was a member of the color guard as well as college where I played the clarinet. Despite experiencing all types of weather from 95-degree heat to freezing temperatures and snow, it was so much fun! Band was my outlet and allowed me to meet new people, make friends, and create so many wonderful memories.”
