Families for Fragile X held their first “Fragile X Walk” event on July 20 in Warwick, Rhode Island. More than 50 family members, caregivers, and the general public participated. This is the first X Strides event from Families for Fragile X, and they plan on making it an annual event.
It was a beautiful sunny day that brought awareness to many about FXS. The group reported a fantastic turnout with many opportunities to educate about Fragile X. They also had a raffle and served food and drinks.
One family joined in after seeing the event listed here on the NFXF fragile.org website. They were visiting all the way from England and made special arrangements to be there. They also saw that the 19th International Fragile X Conference was being held in Florida and headed south after the event. Wonderful! Or as the event’s organizer put it, “How cool is that!”
Families for Fragile X shared some wonderful photos with us that we’ve shared here for the whole community. If you would like to host your own X Strides, please reach out to Kristin Bogart at kristin@fragilex.org.
