Conference Scholarship Application
Conference scholarships serve to assist individuals, families, self-advocates, or siblings who might not otherwise be able to attend the conference due to limited financial resources.
What is the Arthur S. Mintz Memorial Conference Scholarship?
The Arthur S. Mintz Memorial Conference Scholarship is one of the two scholarship options when filling out the application, and has a beautiful backstory. The scholarship was established in memory of a kind-hearted, thoughtful man who befriended a young man in his community with Fragile X Syndrome — and he did it just because he thought it might be good for the young man and helpful to his family.Conference Scholarship Applications Are Now Open!
Arthur S. Mintz — known as Artie — was the type of person who, when presented with a problem by his friends, would try to help them. He even went so far as to help a young woman whose family he knew seize an opportunity to attend Juilliard when her family could not afford it. Artie also volunteered his time at a school for at-risk girls during his frequent trips to Israel, performing whatever tasks the school administration required.
Artie was truly selfless and would never take credit or boast about his accomplishments. Many stories only became public knowledge in their entirety after Artie’s passing in early 2017, though one was known by most — the relationship with that young man with Fragile X Syndrome.
For four-and-a-half years, Artie and this young man spent most Fridays together after school hours, doing whatever the young man wanted. Or, occasionally, Artie would introduce the young man to something new.
This relationship developed into something very special for both men, but the success stems from Artie’s thirst for knowledge about Fragile X Syndrome. He asked the family many questions and did his own research. He began speaking with his many friends in the off chance someone might have additional information that would help his understanding or the family. In large part, that is why so many in his life knew about the relationship. Everyone involved recognized Artie’s efforts, which made a significant difference and had a positive impact on the young man.
This scholarship was created because everyone should be fortunate enough to have an Artie Mintz in their life.
The Arthur S. Mintz Memorial Conference Scholarship covers the cost of attending the biennial NFXF International Conference Scholarship*. It is awarded to families and/or self-advocates who are first-time attendees and would be unable to attend without this scholarship.
The conference offers an opportunity to better understand Fragile X Syndrome and related disorders, learn about current research, connect with the broader Fragile X community, and make new connections.
Just as a friendship with Artie has a positive impact on the lives of those living with Fragile X, the conference makes a difference.

Frequently Asked Questions
The NFXF International Fragile X Conference is the premier biennial event for the Fragile X community, bringing together individuals, families, and professionals to learn, celebrate, and empower one another.
This unique experience is not only educational but also empowering. Sessions will focus on strategies and techniques for supporting individuals living with Fragile X, as well as providing access to emerging research and opportunities.
This conference brings together the entire Fragile X community. Families, self-advocates, siblings, clinicians, educators, and researchers will attend.
Attending the conference in person offers a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and engage with members of the Fragile X community who truly understand the journey. You will have the chance to build relationships with other families, self-advocates, clinicians, educators, and professionals in a collaborative and engaging environment where shared experiences and expertise come together.
Being together in person allows for conversations, real-time learning, and connections that often extend well beyond the conference itself. From interactive sessions and informal discussions to networking, the in-person experience fosters collaboration, inspiration, and a strong sense of belonging that is difficult to replicate virtually.
Yes! We will have a virtual option available. The individual cost will be $199 and includes virtual access for one (1) individual to recorded content via the conference app, Whova. Recordings of onsite breakout sessions and prerecorded poster sessions will be available within two weeks after the event via the conference app and will be available for viewing until October 12, 2026. There will not be any opportunity to interact with presenters for recorded sessions.
Yes. We will be opening the scholarship application in February 2026. Scholarships are made available to assist individuals (parents, self-advocates, siblings, caregivers, and family members) who have not previously attended an NFXF International Fragile X Conference or who might not otherwise be able to attend due to limited financial resources. Depending on the availability of funding, limited scholarships may be available for early-career professionals and/or full-time students who are working in or pursuing a career in the Fragile X field.
Due to low utilization in past years, childcare will not be available this year. We have decided to redirect those resources to enhance programs and services that benefit all conference participants. We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to providing a welcoming and supportive experience for everyone attending the conference.
We will have heavy appetizers on Thursday and Friday evening. We will have a full meal at the Saturday evening celebration (Ticket to the Saturday evening celebration is included with the individual registration, and additional add-on tickets will be available for purchase for non-conference attendees). You are responsible for all other meals; there are a few options within the hotel itself, and several options within close walking distance. Water stations are throughout the hotel and in all meeting rooms.Half-day (ends at 1pm)
