Deborah Parker
About Our Group
Deborah and William Parker became actively involved in Fragile X support, fundraising, and advocacy shortly after their children Jacob and Sophia were diagnosed in May 1999. They are the proud parents of 5 children, three of whom are diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome. They headed the Pennsylvania Fragile X Resource Group beginning in 2000. This group was renamed the Fragile X Central Pennsylvania in 2013 and has reemerged more energized, stronger and larger than in years past. The Parker’s maintain their own non-profit charity, Champions for Children, which was originally created to raise money and awareness of Fragile X, however, over the past 15 years our focus has changed to include all people with Intellectual and physical disabilities. To date, we have donated more than $135,000.00 to various charities including the National Fragile X Foundation, UC Davis MIND Institute, FRAXA Research Foundation, The Arc and Special Olympics. In addition to these organizations, we have been blessed to be able to donate to local families who are in need.
The Parker’s also serve as parent support contacts for Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania.
Fragile X Central Pennsylvania will continue to support all families affected by Fragile X through advocacy and support.
