For years, education and special education services—including therapy, counseling and practices geared toward providing the “least restrictive environment”—have been the mainstay for children, adolescents and young adults with Fragile X syndrome (FXS). While intervention literature is filled with reports and studies about special education in general, little to none of it has been specific to FXS.
Over the years, the NFXF has worked to fill that gap with expert articles written by individuals representing the educational and therapeutic side of its (SCAC). More recently, the development of the Fragile X Clinical & Research Consortium (FXCRC) has allowed us to harvest a wider range of papers that represent the consensus of experts within the FXCRC and SCAC. We are pleased to bring to your attention these papers focused on education for individuals with FXS.
We encourage you to read these papers closely and share them freely with the educators, special educators, therapists, counselors and other professionals who work with your child or children!
Once you’ve used them, we’d also love to hear your feedback on these documents so we know how to improve these and future documents. Please visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/EduGuideFXS to let us know.
