12 Finger Outdoor Adventure brought their rock climbing gear and equipment along with several of their employees to take the time to get our Fragile X-ers exposed to rock climbing. Siblings of those affected by Fragile X were also included in the climbing. We also played frisbee, blew bubbles, had a donut-on-a-string eating contest and we had lunch for everyone (sandwiches, chips, carrots, snacks, and water. We also had snacks, treats, and prizes too. It was such a beautiful day, a little chilly, but beautiful! We climbed, socialized and ate from 10 AM until 12:30 PM.
One of the young men with Fragile X (age 31) climbed to the top of all three routes and still wanted more! He won our large gold medal.
There were about 50 people including FX families, 12 Finger Outdoor Adventure employees and volunteers that were there to participate and enjoy a great first for our association.
Thanks to Dan Christopherson owner of 12 Finger Outdoor Adventure and all of his climbing, belaying volunteers. More thanks goes to all the volunteers that helped keep kids on the trail and out of harm’s way while climbing.
