A Giving Tuesday Gift From Us to You
On this Giving Tuesday, we want to give you a gift of thanks. We’ve designed several holiday and new year cards — shown below — that you can edit with your own photos and name.
We hope you enjoy these and find them useful. And please share your finished products with us — we love seeing all of the families!
How It Works
Creating your personalized holiday card is easy, you only need to type in your name and replace the photo with your own!
1. Choose Your Design
These are all laid out as 5×7 (portrait) or 7×5 (landscape). Each template has two “pages,” one for the front (or as a single image) and one for the back if you intend to print these as a double-sided flat card. If you’re new to Canva, you’ll be prompted to set up a free account to edit your card design.
1. Click the button next to the design you want to edit.
2. Click the Use Template button.
3. Log in, or sign up if you’re new to Canva.
Below the cards you’ll find instructions on how to personalize your card.
2. Edit Your Card
To personalize your card, you’ll replace the default photo and edit your name.
Replace the Photo
Each design template includes a front and back design. The back side design can be used if you want to print these as a double-sided flat card — you’ll need to upload three additional photos for this option.
You can watch upload your own image, or:
1. In Canva, upload your photo at Uploads > Upload media. You’ll need to upload three additional photos if you plan to use the second page as the back side of a double-sided flat card.
2. On the card, delete the “YOUR PHOTO HERE” text box.
3. Drag your uploaded photo over the photo you’re replacing and release. Repeat for back side.
Editing the Name
In the “From the {Name} Family” text box, replace “{Name}” with your family name. Or replace everything after “From” with your own wording (e.g., From Mary and John).
3. Save Your Card as an Image or MP4 Video
You can save your card as either an image or as a video.
Save as an Image
Watch how to save as an image or, at the top right in Canva:
1. Click on the download icon that looks like this:
2. Under File type, choose one of the following:
- For printing use PNG
- For sharing online use JPG (or GIF, which creates a short clip)
3. Under Select pages, check the box next to one or more page (image) you want to download:
- For a single image check Page 1.
- For a double-sided flat card, check both Page 1 and Page 2.
4. Click the Download button.
At the top right, you can also choose the Print Cards button if you want to order printed cards through Canva. Use the PNG file type to print yourself or for ordering prints through your preferred printing service.
Save as an MP4 Video
Watch how to share, download, present or publish your design or, at the top right in Canva:
1. Click on the download icon:
2. Under File type, choose: MP4 Video (suggested)
3. Under Select pages, check the box for Page 1. (If you choose both pages, it will download two video files.)
4. Click the Download button. Your download will begin automatically and save to your default download location on your computer.
Note: You shouldn’t need the other options for a card — PDF Standard, PDF Print, or SVG (for “Pro” paid accounts only).
