The Translational Applied Behavior Analysis Laboratory at Stanford University is seeking boys with FXS to participate in a study evaluating behavioral treatments for disruptive behaviors (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction).

Who can participate?

  • Boys with Fragile X syndrome ages three to ten years inclusive who show disruptive behaviors.

What participation involves:

  • The study duration is 16 weeks and involves an initial in-home assessment to evaluate your child’s behavior, followed by daily to weekly sessions of behavior therapy conducted via telemedicine in your home with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Parents will be loaned an iPad for the study duration and will be shown how to use the video-conferencing software.

What are the benefits of participating?

  • Parent training to help manage your child’s behavior.
  • Summary of your child’s behavioral assessment.
  • Potential reduction in your child’s disruptive behavior.
  • Potential improvement in communication skills.
  • An honorarium of $100 for participation.

This project is directed by Dr. Scott Hall and has been approved by the Stanford University Institutional Review Board.
