We’re excited to announce that the Fragile X Families of SW Chicago LINKS Group and Fragile X Resource Group of Greater Chicago are merging to form the ! Be sure to bookmark our site, chicago.fragilex.org.

The groups have been working collaboratively since the Fall of 2010 to provide family fun, awareness, education and fundraising events. Our decision to unify is to show in name the way our groups have been functioning. Our mission will remain the same: to continue to support families throughout Greater Chicago, the Fragile X Clinic at Rush University and the NFXF. We will continue to host the previous favorite events, and with your input we hope to bring new and exciting events to meet the needs of families in the Chicagoland area!

About us

Avis Primack and Jody Goldsmith founded the Fragile X Resource Group of Greater Chicago in 1997 after Jody’s son (Avis’ Grandson) was diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome. Gail Harris-Schmidt (mother of 2 sons, 1 with Fragile X) later joined as a co-leader of the group.

In 2010 the FX Families of SW Chicago LINKS Group was developed by Missy & Mark Zolecki (parents of 3 children, 1 son with Fragile X). The groups have worked together to host education seminars, awareness, advocacy, fundraising and family events throughout the Chicagoland. Now the groups united to become the Fragile X LINKS Group of Greater Chicago.
